The Far Out Johnnies
The Far Out Johnnies are a San Francisco-based band honoring the legacy of John Hartford. With deep roots in the Bay Area bluegrass scene, the band members have diverse musical backgrounds, having played with many popular bands. This variety fuels their exploration of Hartford’s eclectic catalog, from the iconic Aereo-Plain album to fiddle tunes and beyond. Band members include Dave Berry (mandolin, lead and harmony vocals), Marques Saint Ignatius (guitar, lead and harmony vocals), Jordan Klein (banjo, lead and harmony vocals), Dave Watson (fiddle, lead and harmony vocals), and Clare Simmons (bass, lead and harmony vocals). John is quoted as saying “There's no substitute for getting out there and doing it.” which describes the band's all-in approach and probably why the rehearsals are as much fun as the gigs.
