San Francisco based Dave Berry, an Ohio River valley native, birthplace to many bluegrass and country-rock legends, is a lifelong musician who composes, plays mandolin, and regular contributor to the industry-leading website Bluegrass Today. At age forty, he got thoroughly hooked on the mandolin and there's been no turning back, playing at jams, in various local bands, composing and recording his most recent album, Morning Walk. The album reflects his Bluegrass and Celtic heritage and passion for fiddle tunes acquired from his very first mandolin instruction book, 30 Fiddle Tunes For Mandolin By Butch Baldassari which he still references to this day. He credits attending CBA Fathers Day Festival, the Mandolin Symposium, music camps, lessons, and workshops from Radim Zenkyl, John Reischman, Mike Marshall, Don Stiernberg, Jody Stecher, Sharon Gilchrist, David Grisman, and others for helping inspire and develop his confidence, sound, and style. He’s enjoyed some serious wood-shedding and a burst of creativity since a forced early retirement from a career in software development.
